My book, Reconciled is set in Seattle, WA and the surrounding area. I have done a lot of research on the places where my scenes play out. Most of them are at Marie’s house, but I have a few scenes that are located in or near Seattle.
One of the first scenes is at Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park, which is a cemetery located in Seattle. I spent nearly a whole day researching this place and ironically, now have a final resting place in mind. Another scene is at a coffee shop near University of Washington-Seattle that I renamed and gave ownership to Marie’s best friend, Katherine. I also have incorporated Seattle Underground for a few scenes. It consists of old storefronts and sidewalks from the Great Fire of 1889, which resulted in the city building on top of the remnants. Tourists can walk through it on Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour. It’s kind of eerie so naturally, I thought it would be an excellent setting for my book. The first fallen angels are reconciled here in an area that is unknown to the tourists and it later becomes their outpost.
The last scene of the book takes place at Emerald City Comic Con, which is held every year at the WA State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. I thought it would be interesting for the characters to be in this setting since it’s an event where strange things can happen and it can be viewed as part of Comic Con. In this particular scene, there is an entertaining skirmish between the angels and fallen angels. I thought it would make a good ending for the first book with a bit of a cliffhanger.
I think I used just enough settings for the beginning of this story and I already can’t wait to get started writing the second book!
